Context
: Mission Enfance
has been working in Vietnam for
18 years. Our action takes place
in two regions : Saïgon (Ho
Chi Minh) and the High-Plateaux.
In Saïgon, we work with the
"Filles de la Charité"
congregation which takes on the
children who over there, live with
their parents under cardboard roofs.
These children, thanks to the sponsoring
given by Mission Enfance on 5 centres
of Saïgon and another of the
High-Plateaux in Kontum, have access
to eduction, but are also lodged,
fed and well taken care of.
On the High-Plateaux too, Mission
Enfance faces a slightly different
problem. The ethnic minority of
this region of Middle-South Vietnam,
is victim of a tiring vigilance
on behalf of the local authorities.
Mission Enfance has been working
for the Bahnar minority since 1992
in order to offer a decent education
to the children of this region.
86 schools have consequently been
built on the High-Plateaux.
The Banhars are also facing serious
hygiene problems in this region.
Malaria kills many children each
year. This is why Mission Enfance
hands out, whenever a school building
is constructed, citronella impregnated
mosquito nets.
This year, we continue our educational
programme with the construction
of two schools.
Our hygiene programme on the High-Plateaux
also includes training teachers
in that field. We are pursuing our
project of agricultural population
development, by the purchase of
cows, similar to the microcredit
system. We are also participating
to the rehabilitation of infrastructures
flouded during the 2009 typhoon.
